We have taken a pioneering step by eliminating the cement admixture that is most common in compressed earth block production. The key to this lies in the natural binding properties of clay itself, not in its carbon intensive stabilisation. Our prototypes demonstrates that cement-free compressed earth blocks are structurally sound and improve our already low carbon footprint significantly while making the material truly circular.The architectural challenge lies in addressing the materials sensitivity to moisture. To tackle this, we are developing holistic building solutions which will be tested in collaboration with the expansion of three schools in the Kédougou region between 2027 and 2028.
